Experiment Name:
Study on ring doubling frame

1. Spindle speed, front roller delivery.
2. Twist, twist constant.

Objectives:

• To combine two or more single threads into one.
• To insert sufficient amount of twist for holding the yarns.
• To increase strength, smoothness and luster.
• To reduce hairiness.
• To make sewing thread.
• To wind a suitable bobbin.

Specification:

• Motor rpm = 1430
• Motor pulley diameter = 6.25″
• Machine pulley diameter = 10.25″
• Tin cylinder diameter = 10″
• Wharve diameter = 1.37″
• Cylinder carrier wheel = 24T
• TCP carrier wheel = 62T
• TCP = 63T
• Front roller diameter = 2’’

Gearing diagram of ring doubling frame:

Calculation:

1. Spindle speed = 1430 x (6.5”/10.5”) x (10”/1.37”)
= 6461.59 rpm

2. Twist constant = 1 x (90/1) x (63/22) x (99/24) x (10”/1.37”) x (1/(πx2”))
= 1235.25

3. Front roller delivery = 1430 x (6.5”/10.5”) x (24/99) x (22/63) x (61/90) x π x 2”
= 319.143 inch/min.

4. Existing TPI = 6461.59/319.143 = 20.25 » 20

5. Production = {6461.59 x (60×8) x 36 x 95}/ (16.266 x 36 x 15 x 840 x 100)
= 14.37 lb/shift/frame.

6. Double yarn count = 30/2 Ne

7. Required  TPI = 4.2√15 = 16.266 » 16

Conclusion:
By this experiment we come to know about various parts and working principle of ring doubling frame. This machine is important for producing double yarn on sewing thread.
