Drafting Procedure of Bush Shirt / Safari Slack

Bush Shirt/Modern Safari Slack
A bush shirt is usually a loose fitting cotton shirt with patch pockets and long length belt. It is also sometimes referred as Bush Jacket or Safari Slack or Safari Jacket. Bush shirt is a common dress of males. This dress is the men’s upper torso wear. Bush shirt may has two pockets or four pockets, two pockets on the top part and 2 pockets on the bottom part. The color of the bush shirt will be dark gray or khaki. Bush shirt is lightweight and loose thus it is very comfortable to wear during heavy works or travel. Unlike other shirts it is not very attractive in color or design. So it is known as bush shirt. Suitable fabrics are terene, polyester, viscose-cotton, terry-wool are mostly suitable. People wearing this dress usually wear the same color and material for the lower torso wear, like trousers or pant, now a day this dress is used for official uniform and as well as celebrity wear.

Measurements of Bush Shirt:

  1. Back length = 29”
  2. Natural Waist Length = 16 ½”
  3. Shoulder Width = 18”
  4. Across Back = 7 ½”
  5. Chest = 36”
  6. Waist = 32”
  7. Seat = 38”
  8. Neck girth = 16”
  9. Sleeve Length = 9”
  10. Sleeve Open = 15”

Drafting Details of Bush Shirt (Back Part):

1 – 2 = Back Length + ½”

2 – 3 = Bottom fold 1 ½”

4 – 1 = Scyedepth, Chest/4

1 – 5 = Natural Waist Length + ½”

5 – 6 = 7” Seat line

7 is mid of 1 to 4 measure.

8 is mid of 7 to 1 measure.

9 – 1 = Neck/5 + ¼”

10 – 9 = 1” above

11 – 7 = Across Back + ½”

11 – 12 = Draw a line

12 – 13 = Shoulder’s Slope 1 ½”

13 – 14 = ½” is noted

15 – 3 = ½” is noted

16 – 5 = ¾” is noted

17 – 18 = 1 ¾” is noted

18 – 19 = ½” is noted

20 – 17 = 1” is noted

20 – 21 – 22 = Draw a line

23 – 22 = 1 ¾” is noted

Drafting Details of Front Part:

1 – 2 = Length + ½”

2 – 3 = 1” is noted

4 – 1 = Scyedepth, Chest/4

5 – 1 = Natural Waist Length + ½”

6 – 5 = 7” Seat line

7 – 4 = chest/3 + 1 ½” is noted

8 – 4 = Chest/4 less ¾”

9 is mid of 8 to 4 measure.

10 – 9 = Draw a line, neck point.

11 – 10 = Neck/6 + ¼” is noted

12 – 1 = Neck/5 + ¼” is noted

13 – 8 = Chest/6 +1 ½” is noted

14 – 10 = Same as back 10 to 14 measure

15 – 7 = 1 ¾” is noted

16 – 15 = ½” is noted

17 – 8 = ¾” is noted

18 – 7 – 15 – 19 = Draw a line

20 – 18 = ¾” is noted for waist suppression

21 – 19 = 2” is noted

22 – 5 = 3 ½” dart distance, length 7”, width ¾”

23 is the middle of 7 to 8 measure

23 – 24 = Dart length 13”

25 is dart width ¾” is noted

26 – 12 = ¾” is noted

27 – 26 = 1 ½” is noted for button standing line

28 – 2 = 1” is noted

28 – 29 = 1 ½” is noted

30 – 29 = 1” is noted

Chest pocket size is 4”x4 ½”

Bottom pocket size is 6 ½” x7” to be drawn as per the draft.
