Cap – A Fashion Accessory:
Cap is an evergreen fashion accessory. Cap fit closely to people’s heads and are usually made of soft fabrics. Therefore, caps are generally soft and often have no brim or just a peak. Cap is different from hat. Main functions of caps are to provide warmth, blocking sun rays from eyes and of course as a fashionable accessory. Caps can save from the killing heat this summer and is also an emerging trend of spring summer. In this article I will discuss different parts or anatomy of a cap specially a baseball cap.

There are different types of baseball hats or caps. Such as snapback, fitted, trucker, dad, flat-brimmed bucket, beanie etc. A baseball cap is a type of soft cap with a rounded crown and a stiff peak projecting in front. There are different types of design logo in front of the cap. Baseball cap normally sewn in six sections, known as 6 panel baseball cap. It also sewn in five sections, known as 5 panel baseball cap. The back of the cap may be “fitted” to the wearer’s head size or it may have a plastic, Velcro, or elastic and zipper strip, adjuster so that it can be quickly adjusted to fit different wearers. There are different parts of 6 BB cap. They are given below;

Above parts of cap are described below:

1. Crown:
Crown is a main part of cap. There are 3 panels of crown, front panel, side panel and back panel. Generally, crown have 6 panel, sometime crown has 5 panel depends on demand. Buckram is used under side of front panel if customer wants. There are different size of crown such as 52”, 54”, 57”, 58”, 59” and crown height 12-5/8”, 13”, 13.5”. Brushed cotton twill, T/C cotton twill, Polyester, Nylon mesh fabric is used in crown. Different types of logo sewing on crown front panel, side panel, back panel and Velcro such as flat embroidery, 3D embroidery, woven label, appliqué. Also, there are different types ornaments are used outside of crown for good looking purpose.

2. Visor or Bill or Brim:
Visor is extended part of cap to protect only the face, including eyes, nose, and cheeks, from the sun. Visor has two parts, one is top parts and other is bottom parts. Generally, there are two types of visor such as, curved visor and flat visor. Inside plastic part of visor called peak. Visor may be many shapes and sizes. Brushed cotton twill, T/C cotton twill, Polyester fabric is used top and bottom side of visor. There are 3, 4, 6, 8 row stitches on visor, sometimes embroidery stitching on visor if customer wants. Also, sonic oil print, magnet and different types ornament is used on visor. Sandwich trim is middle part between top and bottom part, its look like sandwich. There are different types of design can be use in visor.

3. Button:
Button is a top part of cap and made of metal. There are two parts of button, top part and under part, these two parts attached with each other. Button is covered with fabric. There are many size and shape button used in cap.

4. Velcro:
Velcro are two parts attached with back part of cap. One part called Velcro hook and other part called Velcro loop. Fabric is attached with one side Velcro hook and another side is hook and Velcro loop same as fabric is attached with one side and another side is hair surface called loop. Velcro hook and Velcro loop attached with each other, also known as buckle cloth strap. Plastics buckle also used in Velcro. There are different types of plastics buckle such as 7-hole plastics buckle, double line hole plastics buckle. Also, metal buckle loop, metal clasp buckle used in Velcro. These may be many shape, size and color used in cap.

5. Eyelets:
Eyelets are small parts of cap. Eyelets is used for passing air inside to outside and outside to inside in cap. Generally, there are six eyelets is used in cap. Sometimes two eyelets used in front two panel of cap. Thread is used for making eyelets.

Also, there are many parts used inside in cap. Sweatband, seam tape, plastics size tape such of them, these are used inside cap for making cap more stable. Generally, sweatband have four row stitches and attached with underparts of crown and seam tape used inside around the crown. Also, there are many types print label, woven label attached with sweatband.
