What is Technical Fabric?
There are different types of fabrics for different purposes. Technical fabric is one kind of fabric that is produced for a specific function. This fabric is a bit different from the normal fabrics. Technical fabrics are specially engineered fabrics to satisfy specific needs that will not be met with regular textiles or fabrics. A technical fabric is made from blends of polyester but not the polyesters. Specific examples of technical fabrics include Gore-Tex, Kevlar, and even specialized versions of polyester and nylon, among others.
The most common use for technical fabrics is in sportswear, but they have other industrial uses. Technical fabrics are used for different purposes, such as in protective clothing or medical clothing. Aside from this, it can also be used in Agro textiles and geo textiles sectors. The reason for that is it provides similar functionalities for intending purpose e.g., bullet-proof vests which protect against bullets for soldiers, police officers, heat resistance suit which protect firefighters from extreme heat and don’t burn. It is also used in sports wear accessories e.g., joggers, sneakers as it is lightweight and it doesn’t absorb sweat. Technical fabrics are also widely used in roofs, tents and curtain because of its UV-protection.

These kinds of fabrics are in special because of its chemical and mechanical properties. Many companies today only relay on technical fabrics as it is widely used in commercial products for its flame retardant, UV-Protection, Anti-static behavior and Stain or water repellent properties.
Function of Technical Fabric
1. Thermal Insulation
Textile fabrics have found a range of uses in thermal insulation, different companies and have implemented different methods to improve the thermal insulation of fabrics and one of them is known a nonwoven fabric a type of technical fabric with a thin layer of fibrous structure that helps to reduce overall weight and absorbs less pressure from surrounding which helps it to be the best thermal insulation for your needs, it can be used for clothing for body protection, tents, sound proofing, etc. (Insulation temperatures ranging from -196°C up to 1600°C).

- Anti-bacterial behavior: Bedding, medical textiles
- UV- protection: Roofs, tents, awnings, blinds, curtains
- Insect repellent: Tents, nets, odor absorption, bedding, furniture, car, bus, train, airplane seats
