Each fabric has its own shuttle but shares all other loom mechanisms, and plain, twill, satin, jacquard, and pile weaves are used.

Many fabrics used in narrow form are woven wider and cut into strips, and cutting mechanisms include laser, ultrasonic or ultra-high frequency sound, or hot knives for converting thermoplastic wide fabrics into narrow strips and fusing the raw edges to reduce raveling. Woven elastics are made using a variety of weaves, and they are used in apparel for which tight fit and holding power are needed, such as in undergarments. They have better stability and rigidity than knit elastics and are less prone to riding up, but are more expensive.
